"A lot of my work is inspired by Maldives and it's natural beauty, as seen in the map of Maldives, 'Golden Archipelago'. I use lots of blues to recreate the different shades of the ocean at home and it's still a work in progress because there's always something new to experiment!
I used to draw and paint figures and still life when I was little, thanks to the countless art lessons my parents made me attend, but I only discovered my favourite medium and style of art a couple of years ago.
I work with resin and acrylic to create abstract art. While I normally work with really large canvases, I pay a lot of attention to the small details in the way the colors are mixed and the way the resin interacts with acrylic. What I love about resin is its glossy varnish as really brings the colors out, which is why I like working with really bright colors. It also adds a lot of depth to my work, which I've found is difficult to achieve with other mediums. Using resin is fairly time consuming and I never quite know how the pieces are going to turn out because it can be pretty hard to work with, but the end result is always something I love. My first piece of resin art, 'Sea Foam', took me about 2 weeks to complete because I was so inexperienced with using resin and spent heaps of time trying to perfect the colors and layers, but its turned out to be one of my favourite pieces.
Art and painting was mostly a hobby for me the last two years but now that I've graduated, I've had a lot more time on my hands to create more. I'd like to have an exhibition of my resin art sometime in the future. I'm really excited to be part of Oevaali Art Shop and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to get my art out there!"
